Underground Berlin: U5 between Alexanderplatz and Unter den Linden is working

U5 finally connects East Berlin with the central station

The 2.2 km long route closes the gap on the U5 between Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz. Passengers can then travel between the main station and Hönow in the east of the city without changing trains.

The Museum Island metro station will open in the summer of 2021

The first regular trains arrived at the two new underground stations Unter den Linden and Rotes Rathaus around midday on Friday. The regular schedule will then apply along the entire length of U5. On weekdays outside peak time, trains will run every five minutes during the day and every 4 2/3 minutes during peak time.

The third new underground station, Museumsinsel, will be ready by summer 2021. In it, the expansion and completion of the distribution level and access are still in progress.

The U6 Französische Straße station will be closed. It is located near the new station Unter den Linden, where U6 and U5 intersect.
